MOSCOW, March 07. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian experts on election law have voiced their readiness to take part in the international monitoring of the referendum in Crimea on joining Russia after the head of Crimean parliament, Vladimir Konstantinov, said on Friday that international observers, first of all from Russia, would be invited to it.

Igor Borisov from the Council for Civil Society and Human Rights under the Russian president expressed readiness on Friday to act as international observer at the referendum as a specialist on international election law. He said he was “ready to contribute in the invitation of foreign specialists on election law, who enjoy authority and maintain relations with the Council.

He told ITAR-TASS that participation in the international monitoring would be very appropriate. “I believe that in a difficult situation when Kiev is blocking the expression of people’s will refusing to give the voters’ list, assistance of the Russian Central Election Commission would come in useful,” Borisov said.

He reminded the interlocutor that in line with international standards, international observers should get an official invitation, saying that the Council had not received an invitation so far.

Central Election Commission sources have not confirmed receiving an official invitation as of yet, and have refused to comment.

Crimea’s parliament voted on Thursday to join the Russian Federation, which will be put to the referendum due on March 16.
