Almost all equipment proves in order after drills in Russia

Deputy defense minister noted the good, fast and coordinated work of technical support units

MOSCOW, March 07. /ITAR-TASS/. Only 18 out of almost 3,000 units of military and special equipment needed repairing during the recent urgent test of the combat readiness of troops in Russia's western and central military districts, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Dmitry Bulgakov told Itar-Tass on Friday.

Bulgakov noted the good, fast and coordinated work of technical support units. About 50 such units participated in the exercises. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu praised them for keeping the military enginery in good working order.

In the exercises, nine field camps were pitched, more than 400 tents were put up and more than 20 bathes and laundries for troops were set up in fields. More than 18,000 liters of bottled water was delivered and more than 9,000 rations were given to the personnel on their way to training sites, the general said.

The deputy minister also said more than 22,000 tonnes of fuel was spent, about 20 field filling stations were set up, and more than 500 tankers, support vessels and Il-78 and Mi-26T aircraft were used for refueling. Aircraft fuel business operator companies assisted at base airfields.

About 150 t of ammunition and missiles were delivered to the troops.

The enginery participating in the exercises logged a total of 2.2 million km, armored vehicles and tanks more than 100,000 km, and ships about 1,800 nautical miles.

Participating in the exercises were 150,000 troops, 90 planes, more than 120 helicopters, more than 880 tanks, about 1,200 military vehicles and up to 80 ships. Eight trains and transport aircraft were used to carry personnel.
