The regional Finance Ministry was instructed to open an account to raise funds for Ukrainian refugees

STAVROPOL, March 03. /ITAR-TASS/. The Stavropol region in Russia’s North Caucasus is ready to receive potential refugees from Ukraine and to render all possible assistance to the people of Ukraine, Vladimir Vladimirov, the region’s acting governor, announced at a government meeting on Monday.

“The Stavropol Region cannot remain aloof,” he said. “Many people of our region have Ukrainian origin, and we are ready to host forced migrants from there.”

Vladimirov ordered the regional government to look into the issues connected with housing expected forced migrants from Ukraine, to find out how many of them may arrive, and to determine the sites for their accommodation.

The regional Finance Ministry was instructed to open an account to raise funds for Ukrainian refugees, the governor’s press service said.

There are currently more than 30,000 ethnic Ukrainians living resident in the Stavropol Region. Many people are descendants of the first wave of Ukrainian migrants, who reclaimed these lands over centuries.
