MOSCOW, February 18. /ITAR-TASS/. Moscow City Court has upheld the house arrest until February 23 of former head of the Defense Ministry's Property Department Yevgenia Vasilyeva, accused of theft in the high-profile Oboronservis case. It will consider the investigator's petition on new extension of her arrest later on Tuesday.

The court rules to leave unchanged the resolution on extending Vasilyeva's house arrest as the measure of restraint and turn down the defense's appeal," the court said.

She had arrived at the court before the hearing, but refused to attend it.

Former head of Defense Ministry’s property department Yevgenia Vasilyeva was placed under house arrest on November 23, 2012. Later, the Moscow City Court mitigated her house arrest conditions, but maintained the ban on leaving home without investigator’s permission.

Vasilyeva is accused of 12 episodes of crime involving the sale of Oboronservis’s property: theft of funds of that joint stock company. According to the Investigative Committee’s chief military investigation department, the damage caused by her criminal activity exceeds three billion rubles ($85 million).
