Medvedev said Russia was closely watching the development of Kyrgyzstan

GORKI, February 11. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Moscow will implement all accords with Kyrgyzstan to confirm strategic relations between the two countries.

"We'll be implementing all the accords reached by the two states (at presidential and government levels) so that our bilateral relations are as strategic, realizing the plans on which we agreed," Medvedev said at a meeting with Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev on Tuesday.

He also noted that Russian-Kyrgyz relations, thanks to Atambayev's active efforts, "have assumed a new quality." "I'm not saying it as a compliment, this is what really happened, our agenda now has many issues including integration themes, as well as matters that always exist between states," the Russian premier said.

Medvedev said Russia was closely watching the development of Kyrgyzstan, its successes and problems. He acknowledged though that the republic's economy was in a difficult situation. "But, as they say, who finds it easy nowadays?" Medvedev said with a smile.

He thanked Atambayev for coming to see the Sochi Winter Olympic Games opening ceremony.
