Open flame put out at tank cars derailment scene in Kirov Region

No maximum permissible concentrations of hazardous substances have been revealed

MOSCOW, February 06. /ITAR-TASS/. Open flame has been put out at the scene of gas condensate tank-cars' derail in Kirov Region, the regional center of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (EMERCOM) announced on Thursday.

"As of 05:47 Moscow time (01:47 GMT) open flame was put out. The monitoring of atmospheric air pollution is being continued. No maximum permissible concentrations (of hazardous substances) have been revealed during repeated studies of atmospheric air in the area of the emergency," an RME source said.

On Wednesday, February 5, thirty-two tank-cars that were carrying gas condensate swerved off the rails at Pozdino Station in Kirov Region at 04:26, and a fire ensued. There has been no loss of life and none has been injured. The causes of the incident are being ascertained by commissions of the central office of the Russian Railways Company and of the Gorky Railway.

About 20 trains were delayed as a result of the incident on the railway tracks. Freight and passenger trains were sent along a changed route in a roundabout way. Train traffic schedule is to be restored by 10:00 Thursday.
