Suspected Volgograd bombing mastermind killed in Dagestan

MAKHACHKALA, February 05. /ITAR-TASS/. Dagestani police reported that they have killed a suspected mastermind behind the Volgograd bombings.
The militant was identified as leader of the "Kadarskaya" gang Mirzayev, a Dagestani law-enforcement source told Itar-Tass on Wednesday, adding that according to preliminary information, he might have sent two suicide bombers to Volgograd late in December 2013.
The special operation was carried out in the town of Izberbash. "The house was blocked on Wednesday morning. During the talks, one of the militants' accomplices surrendered," the source said. "The rest, including Mirzayev, opened fire and were killed in a shootout.
January 30, it was reported that suicide bombers who staged two terrorist acts in the southern Russian city of Volgograd late in last December were identified, and criminals involved in their delivery to the city were detained. Two terrorist attacks were staged in the city of Volgograd over the last days of 2013. On December 29, a suicide bomber detonated explosives at the entrance to the waiting hall of Volgograd’s central railway station. On December 30, a suicide bomber blew up a trolleybus in the morning rush hour. These attacks claimed 34 lives. About 100 people were wounded.
