Detectives are investigating motives that prompted the teenager to commit the crime

MOSCOW, February 03. /ITAR-TASS/. Detectives are questioning the detained Moscow teenager shooter and witnesses of hostage-taking at Moscow secondary school number 263 in Otradnoye district in the northeast of Moscow, spokesman of the Russian Investigative Committee Vladimir Markin told Itar-Tass on Monday.

“A team of detectives and operatives in the Moscow main investigation department of the Russian Investigative Committee, criminal detectives from the central staff of the Investigative Committee are working at the crime scene. The scope of court expertise will be conducted. Detectives are questioning the teenager involving specialists,” Markin said.

Detectives are investigating motives that prompted the teenager to commit the crime. “He will pass a psychological and psychiatric expertise, detectives will decide a measure of restraint on him soon,” the spokesman said.

There are no reasons to say that “he had something special in his character.” The teenager did not have any obvious signs of lack of balance in character and did not engage in conflict situations with school students and teachers, Minister of Education and Science Dmitry Livanov said. The minister believes that teachers should have good psychology knowledge to be able to expose problems at early stage.

Meanwhile, detectives have already started questioning witnesses, including security guards, representatives of school authorities, students and other people, he added. Psychologists are working with freed children.

A criminal case was opened over hostage-taking under Articles 206, 105 and 317 of Russia’s Criminal Code for hostage-taking, murder and attempt on the life of law enforcers.

Detectives have found that a Moscow senior school student came to the school with guns at about the noon on Monday. “The security guard tried to stop him, but the teenager racked the slide and the security guard managed to push the alarm button, after that the security guard was watching the teenager to the biology classroom, where senior students were staying at the moment,” Markin said.

On the way to the classroom the shooter has gunned down geography teacher Andrei Kirillov, born in 1984. The teacher died at the armed incident site. After the alarm button signal police arrived. However, the teenager opened fire at policemen, wounding Senior Sergeant Vladimir Krokhin and shooting down Warrant Officer Sergei Bushuyev.
