Foreign Ministry commissioner: EU overestimates neo-Nazism threat
MOSCOW, January 27. /ITAR-TASS/. The European Union’s public opinion overestimates the neo-Nazism threat, Russian Foreign Ministry Commissioner for Human Rights, Democracy and the Supremacy of Law Konstantin Dolgov said.
“There are many problems in the European Union, particularly in such human rights areas as xenophobia, nazism and racism. These phenomena continue to grow,” the commissioner said.
“The existence of neo-Nazism in certain EU countries is justified by an alleged care to ensure the freedom of opinion because no one cancelled the Nuremberg decisions. Any attempts to justify those who supported Nazi Germany and its allies are the violation of the norms of international law,” the diplomat said.
The funerals of an Estonian legionary of the 20th SS division prove this, Dolgov said. “Such actions cannot be justified and require a corresponding response. Of course, there is no reaction from the EU,” the diplomat added.
