MOSCOW, January 24. /ITAR-TASS/. Moscow city hall received an application for a protest action on February 8 against introducing restrictions in e-commerce area and in using online payment systems, head of Consumer Rights Protection Society Mikhail Anshakov told Itar-Tass on Friday.

“We have filed an application to hold a public rally from 14:00 to 17:00 Moscow time with up to 10 thousand participants,” he said. “We will lift our voice against massive attack on consumer rights and call for boycotting companies that are lobbying measures of restricting duty free online trade in Russia,” Anshakov explained.

 

DHL Express refuses to deliver cargoes to individuals

On Thursday, January 23, it became known that DHL Express mail service entirely stopped delivering cargoes to individuals from abroad.

Since 2010, DHL Express does not accept delivery orders for private customers in Russia from individuals abroad. However, Russian customers could receive orders from several online shops.

As the company’s Operative Business Vice-President in Russia Yuri Shevchenko told Itar-Tass, from January 27, 2014, the mail service decided to completely stop importing all personal use cargoes to Russia. The reasons for it were reports about expanding the list of documents for express-cargoes declaration and adding new requirements.

It was also reported that other express mail service, PonyExpress, did not intend to cut the volume of international deliveries to Russia.

 

Media reports about new requirements to online purchases

Earlier, media quoting the official web page of DHL Express reported about the introduction of additional requirements regarding the customs registration of online purchases.

In particular, it was specified that the purchaser must register the delivery on his registered domicile address and bring a bank card that was used for the purchase. The new rules came into force January 4, the press service of the mail service said.

Yuri Shevchenko explained that the document set for declaration was approved by the Sheremetyevskaya customs.

Meanwhile, a message of the Federal Customs Service said that the Sheremetyevskaya customs did not change the rules of registering online purchases “delivered by the carrier to an individual’s address”.
