DHL to stop shipping personal use goods to Russia
The decision comes as a result of new procedures which make processing such shipments much more complicated
MOSCOW, January 23. /ITAR-TASS/. A letter sent out by the Association of Express Logistic Companies to the operators’ clients January 20, 2014, states that express mail services DHL, DPN, Pony Express, SPSR, TNT, FedEx and UPS have ceased shipping personal use goods to Russia.
The decision comes as a result of new regulations for processing these goods. The message states: “Due to new conditions the volume of incoming express shipments is much greater than the number of shipments processed. For the express delivery industry, our service, combining speed, quality and reliability and complete adherence to local legislation are key elements of our operation. The new regulations make it impossible for our members to provide the service on a level which our clients expect.”
President of the Association Vladimir Sarkisov later refuted this information, saying that the letter is not obligatory, but an encouragement for discussion. “Each company makes its own decision,” he said.
