Lebedev to be set free as soon as prison authority receives proper documents

MOSCOW, January 23. /ITAR-TASS/. The Former MENATEP CEO will be released from prison as soon as the prison authority receives the Supreme Court’s verdict, the press service of the Federal Penitentiary Service told Itar-Tass on Thursday.

“Lebedev will be set free as soon as the prison authority receives proper documents for this,” the press service reported.

Lebedev is staying at a penitentiary in the city of Velsk, Arkhangelsk Region, northern Russia.

On Thursday, the Russian Supreme Court has mitigated the verdict to him to 10 years, six months and 22 days to a term in prison that he had already served. According to the court verdict that entered into force and cannot be appealed, Lebedev is expected to be set free on Thursday or January 24.

“If everything is done quickly, Lebedev can leave the penitentiary already today,” his lawyer Vladimir Krasnov told reporters.
