MOSCOW, January 23. /ITAR-TASS/. The opposition forces have filed an application with the Moscow mayor’s office for a mass demonstration on February 2 with up to 30,000 participants under the slogan “For Freedom to Bolotnaya Square Prisoners,” an organizer of the action, member of the Committee for Protest Actions Pyotr Tsarkov told Itar-Tass on Thursday.

“The application has been filed for a march on the route from the Belorussky railway terminal down Tverskaya Street to Manezhnaya Square with the number of participants up to 30,000 people. It will be finally determined in negotiations with officials of the Moscow mayor’s office,” Tsarkov said.

The demonstration organizers are the Committee for Protest Actions, May 6 Committee, Solidarity movement and other opposition organizations.

January 22, the public prosecution at Moscow’s Zamoskvoretsky court asked to sentence eight defendants in the criminal case of mass riots in Moscow’s Bolotnaya Square that took place on May 6, 2012, to imprisonment terms from five to six years. The court hearing was adjourned until January 27 when the lawyers and defendants will make pleadings in court, after which the defendants will make the last plea. After that the judges will withdraw to conference room for the consideration of judgment.
