KRASNOGORSK, January 15. /ITAR-TASS/. Moscow region authorities will tighten security of government computer networks to prevent new hacker attacks, similar to the one that disabled traffic cameras across the province earlier this month, regional governor Andrei Vorobyov told reporters on Wednesday.

"We're already thinking about ways to rebuff such cyber attacks. What happened to traffic cameras was a serious signal to be pondered, and this work will be carried on," Vorobyov said in response to Itar-Tass.

As for repairing the cameras, they are practically all functional already," he added.

Deputy Chairman of the regional government Pyotr Ivanov earlier told Itar-Tass that all the 149 traffic monitoring cameras on Moscow region roads would begin to operate in the usual mode on January 16.

The cameras were disabled in a hacker attack overnight from January 9 to January 10.
