Though it is already six days after the seizure, doctors fix injuries the crew have received

MOSCOW, January 11, 15:29 /ITAR-TASS/. Doctors were allowed on board of the Russian Oleg Naidenov trawler, arrested in Senegal, Russian fishery authority (Rosrybolovstvo) said on Saturday referring to its representative Alexander Birukov, who is in Senegal.

The medical group features two Senegalese doctors - a military doctor and a representative of an independent clinic, which the Russian side had insisted to be used for medical inspection.

“Though it is already six days after the seizure, doctors fix injuries the crew have received,” the source said.

The authority considers the actions from the Senegalese side to offer medical assistance to the crew as a positive signal and hopes the problem with the arrested Russian vessel will be eased, he said. If the doctors insist any members of the crew may require additional tests ashore, the Senegalese side will release Russian seamen to hospital, the authority said.

A Russian trawler, the Oleg Naidenov, was arrested by Senegal’s military in the waters of neighbouring Guinea-Bissau on January 5, 2014 and still remains under arrest in the military port of Dakar. Over the military detention, the trawler’s captain Vadim Mantorov and two inspectors from Guinea-Bissau got injures. The captain complained about strong pain in the area of kidneys, but earlier the Senegalese side refused to let him off the trawler for an ultrasound test.
