Ukraine satisfies Russian request to arrest Berezovsky’s immovable property
Russian Chief Prosecutor Yuri Chaika said in an interview published by the Rossiyskaya Gazeta daily on Friday that Berezovsky’s assets earned illegally
KIEV, January 10, 20:36 /ITAR-TASS/. Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office confirmed on Friday that it had arrested the property of late Russian tycoon Boris Berezovsky at the request of Russian prosecutors.
“We confirm the receipt of such a request on Berezovsky from the Russian side. Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office has satisfied this request,” the press service of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office reports.
Russian Chief Prosecutor Yuri Chaika said in an interview published by the Rossiyskaya Gazeta daily on Friday that Berezovsky’s assets earned illegally, including by means of corruption, should be returned to Russia. “We consider it as one of the vital areas of our work,” Chaika said.
He added that Ukraine had satisfied the request to arrest Berezovsky’s immovable property as well as shares in companies which belonged to the late tycoon.
