Baltic Fleet’s ships to take part in several international naval drills in 2014

MOSCOW, January 06, 9:34 /ITAR-TASS/. The Russian Baltic Fleet’s warships will take part in several international naval drills and make calls at foreign ports in 2014, a spokesman for the Baltic Fleet’s western military district, Captain Second Rank Vladimir Matveyev told Itar-Tass on Monday.
“In 2014 ships of the Baltic Fleet are expected to participate in such international naval exercises as BALTOPS, Baltic Sarex, DANEX, FRUKUS, Open Sprit and in several drills like PASSEX,” Matveyev said.
The Baltic Fleet’s ships would also maintain their global missions.
“In particular, this year the fleet’s ships will make six unofficial visits and business calls at ports of Belgium, the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands and Norway,” he said.
