Antiterrorist mission continues in Volgograd

VOLGOGRAD, January 01, 13:30 /ITAR-TASS/. Over 3,000 police and dozens volunteers guarded Volgograd’s streets during the New Year night, the local branch of Russia’s Interior Ministry told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.

“During the Vikhr (whirl) - Antiterrorist mission, the police jointly with the K-9 divisions inspected over 2,700 houses with basements and attics, 112 parking lots, 27 bus stations - the total of 4,579 facilities,” the source said.

The Vikhr - Antiterrorist mission continues in Volgograd for the third day now. It began immediately after the explosions in a trolleybus and in a railway station. During the mission, the police have confiscated over eleven kilograms of drugs, checked 185 migrants, where two had been in the Russian territory illegally. The police inspected 344 gun owners.
