Payments to families of those killed in Volgograd bombings to continue Dec 31.
VOLGOGRAD, December 31, 5:59 /ITAR-TASS/. Payments to the families of those killed and injured in two suicide bombing attacks in Volgograd will be continued on December 31 and in early January - during public holidays. More than 100 million roubles from the federal and regional budgets have already been allocated for these purposes.
According to the governor of the Volgograd region Sergei Bozhenov, material aid worth 200 thousand roubles has already been transferred to 17 injured in an explosion at the Volgograd-1 railway terminal. The rest of those injured and the families of those killed will receive financial aid in the coming days, the regional government says. “The procedures should be organised quickly, and the social services must take up all issues related to the documents,” Bozhenov said.
According to previous reports, the families of those killed in the terrorist attacks at the rail terminal and in a trolleybus in Volgograd will be receive one million roubles each. All the injured - regardless of the severity of injuries - will also receive financial compensation: 200 thousand roubles will be paid to people with minor injuries, 400 thousand - to patients in a state of moderate severity and all severely injured.
RF Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets set the task to the relevant federal ministries and leadership of the region to make all the promised payments as quickly as possible. “There must be no interruption in this work,” she said.
Volgograd region’s social protection services have already received on their accounts 47 million roubles from the regional budget and another 60 million roubles - from the federal government. According to Bozhenov, these funds are sufficient to make the promised payments.
Two terrorist attacks were staged in Volgograd in two days: on Sunday the target of extremists’ suicide bombing attack was the city’s railway terminal, and on Monday a trolleybus was exploded. According to the latest reports, the terrorist attacks claimed the lives of 31 people. More than 100 people got injuries of varying degrees of severity; 65 injured are staying at hospitals in Volgograd and Moscow.
