First funerals of terrorist attack victims to be held in Volgograd Tue

The region’s leadership has assumed all the costs associated with the burial and wake ceremonies

VOLGOGRAD, December 31, 1:15 /ITAR-TASS/. The first funerals of those killed in a suicide bombing attack at the Volgograd railway terminal will be held in the region on Tuesday. The government of the Volgograd region reported that “this decision has been taken was made by the relatives”.

On Tuesday, the funerals of two victims of the attack will be held - Russian Railways (RZD) employee Sergei Nalivaiko, born in 1984, will be buried in the Kirov district of Volgograd. He worked at the railway terminal, was responsible for inspection of hand baggage of passengers. Sergei was killed in the line of duty. On the same day, December 31, Leonid Sushchev, born in 1986, will be buried at the Golubinsky state farm in the Kalachevski district of the Volgograd region.

On the next day - January 1, relatives will hold at the Krasnooktyabrsky district of Volgograd the funerals of Denis Andreyev, born in 1989. He was also an RZD employee, like his colleague Sergei Nalivaiko, inspecting hand baggage, and died in the line of duty. On the same day, January 1, Yelena Nikulina, born in 1992, who was killed in a suicide bombing at the terminal, will be buried in the Kumylzhenskaya village of the Volgograd region.

On Wednesday, January 2, the funerals of Olga Tyunyaeva, born in 1982, will be held at the Krasnooktyabrsky district of Volgograd. Transport police Senior Sergeant Dmitry Makovkin, born in 1984, will be buried on the same day at the Dimitrovskoye Cemetery of the Dzerzhinsky district. Dmitry was killed in the line of duty.

The regional government is engaged in the organisation of the funerals - the region’s leadership has assumed all the costs associated with the burial and wake ceremonies. Material assistance is provided to all the families of those killed, regardless of the place of residence of the victims. 

Relatives of victims of those killed in the terrorist attack at the railway terminal continue to arrive in Volgograd. Many of those perished come from other regions of Russia, among the victims there are also citizens of Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member countries. The government of the Volgograd region has prepared hotel rooms for the families of the terrorist act victims. The regional authorities will fully pay for their accommodation.
