Missiles of the Iskander-M tactical ballistic missile systems are capable of hitting two different targets at a distance of up to 500 km with an interval of one minute

ROSTOV-ON-DON, December 19. /ITAR-TASS/. The 49th army of Russia’s Southern Military District (SMD), positioned in the Krasnodar and Stavropol regions, has received the Iskander-M tactical ballistic missile systems, the SMD press service told Itar-Tass on Thursday.

“The scheduled rearmament of the missile formation of the 49th army in 2013 has been completed,” the source said.

In addition to these missile systems, the army’s combat vehicle fleet has been supplemented with the 2S19M2 Msta-S modernized armored self-propelled guns, Redut modern digital mobile complex and the T-72BM tanks.

Soldiers and officers of the 49th army have already undergone the needed retraining at the Combat Training Center of missile troops and artillery application by the Russian ground forces in the Astrakhan region.

Missiles of the Iskander-M tactical ballistic missile systems are capable of hitting two different targets at a distance of up to 500 km with an interval of one minute. Each missile is guided during its flight to the target, so its flight path for the enemy is hard to predict.

The Iskander-M tactical ballistic missile complex includes a launcher, a loader-transporter, a routine-maintenance vehicle, a command post vehicle, an information post, ammunition equipment set and training aids.
