Russia’s Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN) are commissioning new military facilities’ security and protection equipment, RVSN Commander, Colonel General Sergei Karakayev told reporters on the occasion of RVSN Day marked in the Russian Armed Forces on Tuesday.

Karakayev stressed that “in the conditions of existing terrorist threats, one of the most important tasks fulfilled by the RVSN is the prevention of nuclear terrorism attempts.” “In this connection, one of the main spheres of activity of the RVSN for the past several years remains the improvement of security and protection of facilities against acts of terrorism,” the commander added. According to him, “the activities held by the command of the RVSN units in co-operation with the RF Federal Security Service (FSB) and Interior Ministry bodies, administrations of districts and settlements, have ensured the prevention of illegal actions against our facilities.”
Touching upon technical innovations, Karakayev said that in 2012 the forces completed the development and testing of the “Typhoon-M combat anti-sabotage vehicle that is used for the protection and defense of missile systems, reconnaissance and fighting the enemy’s ranger units.” “In 2013, the delivery of Typhoon vehicles to the Teikovo, Novosibirsk and Tagil commands started,” the RVSN commander said.
