MOSCOW, December 06. /ITAR-TASS/. The detectives have completed the preliminary investigation of the criminal case against Armenian citizen Grachya Arutyunyan, who was a driver of the KAMAZ truck, which rammed in a shuttle bus outside the Moscow regional town of Podolsk on July 13, 2013.

“Today Grachya Arutyunyan and the lawyers announced about the end to the preliminary investigation. Starting from Monday we will begin to study the criminal case files,” his lawyer Ruben Markaryan told Itar-Tass.

The lawyer noted that despite Arutyunyan had plead guilty he does not intend to ask for special court proceedings.

“Certainly, I do not want it to be an open trial and to see the pain of the relatives of the casualties. I am feeling this pain all the same, so, I would not like even to study the criminal case files so that the criminal case would be passed to the court quicker and a verdict would be pronounced faster. It is just needed to find out everything completely so that no one will ever repeat my mistakes behind the wheel. This is the only thing that I can do,” the lawyer conveyed the words of his client that the latter said while studying the court ruling on the end to the preliminary investigation.

Meanwhile, Markaryan noted that he had learnt with surprise from the specific court ruling about the composition of the group of 25 detectives from different police departments. “We were acquainted only with three detectives, who had really worked in the criminal case. It is unclear for us why so many law enforcers were needed,” the lawyer said in conclusion.

On July 13, 2013, the KAMAZ truck loaded with small rock rammed in the passenger shuttle bus LIAZ, almost cutting it in two parts in the area of the 7th kilometer of the highway leading to the town of Podolsk in the Troitsk administrative district of Moscow. Eighteen people died and more than 60 people were injured in the road accident.

Arutyunyan is accused of violating the traffic rules that entailed the death of two and more people through negligence and the misuse of the forged document.
