Russia’s Ambassador to the UN Vitaly Churkin said it would solve the problem of lacking material means for the chemical disarmament mission in Syria

UNITED NATIONS ORGANISATION, December 05. /ITAR-TASS/. Syria will be provided necessary equipment within the program for eliminating chemical weapons, Russian permanent representative to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin said.

This will help Syria take measures to eliminate chemical weapons. “We’ll make certain contribution to Syria by providing it equipment,” Churkin said.

In the latest letter to the U.N. Security Council U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said Syria lacked equipment in order to eliminate toxic agents. He recommended the states to solve problems with the Syrian government.

However, the Russian permanent representative said, “All is well, but there are problems, which are needed serious work.”

Several diplomats call for specifying who will take responsibility for ensuring security of chemical weapons when they are transported by sea and then eliminated. Churkin said, “I don’t see any problem. It can be solved by lawyers of the United Nations and the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in cooperation with the countries, which seek to take part in the operation,” he said.

Commenting on problems related to transportation of toxic agencies on the territory of Syria itself, Churkin said it was necessary to convince the opposition not to create obstacles during the operation.
