MOSCOW, December 03. /ITAR-TASS/. Evidence to be gathered by a new Kremlin anti-corruption directorate was much needed, chairwoman of the lower house of parliament's Security and Anti-Corruption Committee Irina Yarovaya said on Tuesday.

Its formation confirmed President Vladimir Putin's intention that the anti-corruption fight would be a matter of constant attention, she said.

Investigations would concern "not only control over spending and revenues of state officials but the whole set of measures in the anti-corruption fight,” Yarovaya said.

The new directorate will be the 21st in the Kremlin administration. It will be led by Oleg Plokhoi, formerly at the Kremlin directorate for state services and personnel.

“I believe that in the system of general measures and tasks set by the president for the anti-corruption fight, the input of this agency will be much needed,” Yarovaya told reporters, adding that the agency would perform tasks assigned in presidential decrees and laws.

It was symbolic that the presidential decree establishing the new agency arrived on what was Russia's official Lawyer Day, she said.

“In my opinion, everything connected with strict compliance with law and respect for law as a guarantee of general security will shortly become the biggest priority in society, in the state,” Yarovaya added.
