MOSCOW, December 03. /ITAR-TASS/. Minister-Councillor of the Russian Embassy in the Netherlands Dmitry Borodin, who was attacked in the country, came back to Moscow, the information and press department of the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on Tuesday.

The minister confirmed that a service mission of the diplomat “is really over at his request.” “This decision is caused by the atmosphere, which has emerged in the country of stay over him and his family due to notorious circumstances. The Russian diplomat came back to Moscow,” the ministry noted. “After the vacations he is entitled to he will continue his work in the Foreign Ministry,” the Russian ministry said.

Overnight to October 6, Minister-Councillor of the Russian Embassy in the Netherlands Dmitry Borodin was beaten up by the Dutch police in his flat in The Hague. He was arrested allegedly over a brutal treatment with children and was taken to the police station. Over the incident the Russian Foreign Ministry has sent a harsh note of protest to the Netherlands. On October 9, the Netherlands offered official apologies to Russia, acknowledging that “the arrest and keeping in custody of the Russian diplomat, who enjoys full diplomatic immunity, violated the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.”

Later the Dutch ambassador in Russia on the demands from Russia handed over in the Russian Foreign Ministry a report about the actions of police. Meanwhile, Dutch Foreign Minister Frans Timmermans stated that the Dutch police, which participated in the incident, will not be punished. In his view, they “acted according to their professional responsibility in response to the situation they were informed about.
