“We have a good format, the Russia-NATO Council, where we are ready to work constructively,” he said. “We are interested in cooperating on Afghanistan and Central Asia in the first half of 2015. Russia and NATO can constructively work in this direction.”

Rinkevics admitted that the Russian-Latvian dialogue experienced problems. “We will continue our discussion. There are points at issue concerning some internal political affairs,” he said.

Along with that the Baltic state’s diplomat said the contacts between the two countries had become regular. “We register the influx of Russian tourists to Latvia. We are glad this happens. This is an opportunity to continue work on public diplomacy,” Rinkevics noted.
