MOSCOW, November 19,/ITAR-TASS/. One of the flight data recorders from the Boeing airliner which crashed in the Russian city of Kazan turned out to be empty. The capsule with cockpit voice records presumably was detached from the recorder, sources close to the detectives told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.

“Two flight recorders were severely damaged, the cockpit voice recorder turned out to be opened and the capsule with the cockpit voice record was not in the container,” the sources said. They did not rule out that the capsule might be among the debris of the airliner.

Sources added that personnel is still looking for the capsule in the wreckage, adding that the picture of the incident is becoming clear. Itar-Tass was told that the aircraft went in a nose dive after unsuccessful landing attempt while trying to take a second approach. The impact happened between two airstrips, neither of which is damaged. The force of the impact scattered the wreckage across 23,000 square meters, the sources said.
