Russia Investigative Committee warns against hasty conclusions on Kazan crash

MOSCOW, November 18, /ITAR-TASS/. The Russian Investigative Committee warns against making hasty conclusions on the causes of the crash of an airliner Boeing-737 at the Kazan airport. Fifty people died in the air crash.

“I want to warn people from making hasty conclusions and putting forward different theories and only after the whole scope of investigative and procedural actions is fulfilled conclusions on the causes of this air crash and on the guilt of different people can be drawn,” spokesman for the Russian Investigative Committee Vladimir Markin told Itar-Tass on Monday.

He noted that Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee Aleksander Bastrykin instructed the main investigation department of the committee to probe this tragedy. Bastrykin is staying in Kazan and is coordinating the work of the group of detectives and operatives.

“At the present moment the detectives consider as the main theories a technical malfunction, an error in piloting and unfavourable weather,” Markin added.

The detectives continue the search at the air crash site, where the flight recorders had already been found. The video records from the CCTV cameras of the airport were confiscated and are being examined in detail. The video record captured the falling trajectory of the airliner, the recordings of talks between the flight controller and the crewmembers are being confiscated, and the fuel samples were taken to check its quality. Forensic expertises were announced and are being conducted and the identification procedure of the air crash victims was launched.

“Certainly, the detectives intend to assess whether the control over the operator of the airliner was timely, sufficient and efficient and whether the flight safety measures were taken fully. The air company “Tatarstan” and the airport of departure have already confiscated all necessary documentation. At the same time the detectives are waiting for a report from the technical committee of the Interstate Aviation Committee, which will be studied thoroughly and included in the case files,” Markin said.

He noted that after the technical committee of the Interstate Aviation Committee ends its work the investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee will announce and conduct a complex expertise involving the specialists, including officials of Boeing Company.
