ST. PETERSBURG, November 15. (ITAR-TASS) - Jailed Pussy Riot singer Nadezhda Tolokonnikova was moved to a penal colony in the Krasnoyarsk region under heavy security and under the supervision of medics, the chairman of the human rights council under the Russian president, Mikhail Fedotov, told reporters on Friday.

“She is in the Krasnoyarsk region, this is absolutely for sure. I had this information back three weeks ago. But in accordance with law, information could not be made public as long as the inmate was being convoyed,” he said.

“That is why neither (human rights ombudsman Vladimir) Lukin nor I were disclosing it. We knew she was under the supervision of medics, and that security measures were heavy,” he added.

By moving her from one penal colony to another, nobody was aiming to “inflict any suffering on her,” Fedotov said.

In August 2012, Moscow's Khamovniki district court found three Pussy Riot activists - Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Maria Alyokhina and Yekaterina Samutsevich - guilty of hooliganism and religious hate during a scandalous 'punk prayer' in the Christ the Savior Church in Moscow.

Each was sentenced to two years in a general regime penitentiary. On October 10, Moscow City Court softened the verdict for Samutsevich, giving her a suspended sentence. The two other women are due to be released from prison next March.

Earlier, Tolokonnikova served her sentence in a prison in Mordovia, where she began a hunger strike on September 23 in protest against alleged murder threats from a deputy warden. She ended her hunger strike on October 1.
