NEW DELHI, November 10 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Sunday arrived in New Delhi for three-party talks with his counterparts from India and China, Salman Khurshid and Wang Yi, respectively.

The three foreign ministers will discuss cooperation between Moscow, New Delhi and Beijing on most pressing regional and international issues, problems of the formation of a new regional security cooperation architecture and better coordination of their countries’ actions within the United Nations Organization and other multi-party formats. The talks will yield a joint communiqué.

On Monday, November 11, the Russian foreign minister will take part in the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) forum at the ministerial level. “We consider this meeting as a promising dialogue platform for the sake of promoting comprehensive inter-regional cooperation, building a cooperation and security architecture and coordinating positions on global and regional agenda,” the Russian foreign ministry said.

Lavrov has suggested an international ASEM conference on inter-cultural and inter-religious cooperation be organized in Russia’s second largest city of St. Petersburg in July 2014. “We hope our ASEM partners will take an active part in this conference,” the Russian foreign ministry stressed.

Established in 1996, ASEM now has 51 partners, including 30 partners from Europe (27 member countries of the European Union, Norway, Switzerland and the European Commission) and 21 Asian partners (ten member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Australia, Bangladesh, India, China, Mongolia, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Korea, Russia, Japan and the ASEAN Secretariat). ASEM ministerial conferences are held every two years in Asian and European countries alternatively. Russia joined ASEM in October 2010.
