Citizens would voluntarily decide whether to retire later

MOSCOW, October 31 (Itar-Tass) - The new pension formula may really substantially increase a pension size, Minister of Labour and Social Protection Maxim Topilin believes.

Answering to the question whether there was a contradiction between the statements that the pension age would not be raised and the proposal to postpone retirement, the minister explained that citizens would voluntarily decide whether to retire later. The present law also envisages later retirement, but it is not very much encouraged.

The new pension formula will allow really considerably increasing a pension for people who will continue working after reaching the age of 55-60. If you retire five years later, you will receive 45 or even 50 percent more, the minister said in an interview published in the Rossiiskaya Gazeta on Thursday.
