Investigators indict Orkhan Zeinalov, Biryulyovo murder suspect
Laywer and interpreter were present at the indictment
MOSCOW, October 18 (Itar-Tass) - Orkhan Zeinalov, suspected of killing Yegor Shcherbakov, a resident of the Moscow Biryulyovo district, has been indicted on murder charges, Sergei Stukalov, a representative of the main investigative department of the Russian Investigation Committee for the city of Moscow, told Itar-Tass.
“On Friday, Orkhan Zeinalov was officially notified that murder charges had been filed against him in the presence of a lawyer and an interpreter,” Stukalov said.
Yegor Shcherbakov, the 25-year-old Muscovite, was killed on the night to October 10 in Moscow's Western Biryulyovo district . Zeinalov stabbed the young man to death in the heart in front of the eyes of Shcherbakov's girlfriend.
The murder produced a great public response The Biryulyovo residents held a meeting demanding to catch the criminal as soon as possible and tighten up struggle against illegal migrants. The rally was followed by mass riots. Police detained Zeinalov in Kolomna near Moscow on October 15. He was taken for questoning to the Moscow criminal investiation department at 38, Petrovka Street. At first, Zeinalov pleaded guilty but later gave up his evidence.
Earlier this week, Moscow’s Presnensky court has ruled taking into custody of Azerbaijani national Orkhan Zeinalov suspected of killing ethnic Russian Yegor Shcherbakov. Earlier, Orkhan Zeinalov has pled not guilty to a charge of murdering Yegor Shcherbakov.
“I don’t agree. I did not kill him,” he said via an interpreter.
On Wednesday, Vladimir Marking, official representative of Russia’s Investigative Committee told Itar-Tass that the investigation had enough evidence to form a case against Zeinalov.
He added that during questioning Zeinalov admitted to stabbing Schervakov October 10, which led to the victim’s death. Investigators have requested the Azerbaijan-born suspect to be detained until trial.
