MOSCOW, September 5 (Itar-Tass) - Russia and the United States will need new “reset” to take their relations to the next level, presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said in an interview with the Russia Today television channel on Thursday, September 5.

“There is no doubt that our bilateral relations are going through hard times now and that the current state of affairs does not live up to our expectations from the reset,” he said.

Peskov noted, however, that “Russia has always sought, is seeking and will seek to have good relations with the US. We are interested in economic cooperation. Together with the United States we bear responsibility for global stability and strategic stability, for stability and peace in certain parts of the world,” the spokesperson said.

He believes that all this can be done only on the basis of mutual understanding and mutually advantageous cooperation. “If only one side benefits, difficulties automatically occur in our relations,” he added.

Peskov said Russia would continue to “deepen and improve” relations with the US.
