KHABAROVSK, September 5 (Itar-Tass) - Vice-premier, plenipotentiary envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev and Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov have checked reliability of protective dams in Khabarovsk and talked with rescuers and local residents.

Upon completion of a briefing session Trutnev and Puchkov have gone to the area where over 10 high-rise residential houses were flooded. Protective dams have been built around these houses.

“Rescuers work here day-and-night. They evacuate people by boats. We’ve gotten acquainted,” rescuers said.

Local residents, who are at their apartments on upper levels, said they felt well. “Rescuers help us,” one of the residents said.

The water has started to go back and people feel normal, the woman said.
