Russian government approves draft treaty on Russia-South Ossetia border

MOSCOW, September 4 (Itar-Tass) - The Russian government has approved a draft treaty on the state border between Russia and South Ossetia. Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a resolution to submit the document to President Vladimir Putin, the official website of the Russian Cabinet reported.

“The treaty defines the state borderline between the Russian Federation and the Republic of South Ossetia that is passing in the highlands of the Main Caucasus Ridge. The state borderline is put on the topographic map, which makes integral part of the treaty,” the Russian government said.

The government hopes that “the resolution will contribute to the international legal establishment of the state border of the Russian Federation that will allow taking measures to reinforce the border.”
