PRETORIA, August 7 (Itar-Tass) - The Russian Embassy in Kenya doesn’t hold any information about any Russian citizens that might have been staying at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where a major fire broke out, the Russian diplomatic mission told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.

All passengers were evacuated and were not injured, Kenya Airways CEO Titus Naikuni said. The police reported that the fire was localized. The damage was mainly inflicted to the arrival gate.

The fire broke out at 05:00 local time on Wednesday, supposedly in the passport control zone. The causes of the fire are not reported. The flights are redirected to other cities.

Nairobi’s international airport is named in honor of the father of the Kenyan nation and first president of the country Jomo Kenyatta. Now his son Uhuru Kenyatta is the incumbent Kenyan president. The airport is a transit air harbor in East Africa for many flights, on which the passengers are flying to other African countries.
