American ambassador condemns US band over desecration of Russian flag
“I find the actions of Bloodhound Gang disgusting. I also condemn the act of violence against them,” McFaul tweeted
MOSCOW, August 4 (Itar-Tass) - United States Ambassador Michael McFaul has condemned the actions of the American rock group Bloodhound Gang, whose bass player desecrated the Russian flag at a performance in Ukraine’s Odessa, as “disgusting.”
“I find the actions of Bloodhound Gang disgusting. I also condemn the act of violence against them,” McFaul tweeted, obviously referring to a subsequent incident at Anapa’s airport, when the band members were assaulted by local activists before boarding their flight.
At a performance in Odessa, bass guitarist of the band Evil Jared Hasselhoff thrust a Russian flag into his pants and literally wiped his behind with it, according to a video posted on YouTube.
Subsequently, the Russian authorities cancelled Bloodhound Gang’s performance at the Kubana-2013 festival in Anapa, Russia’s southern Krasnodar Territory. The band left Russia.
Currently, materials on the case have been submitted to the prosecutor’s office. Desecration of the Russian flag carries a punishment of up to one year in prison.
