Investigation Committee denies suspending rights activist's murder probe

MOSCOW, July 15 (Itar-Tass) - The Investigative Committee said it has never stopped the probe into the murder of rights activist Natalia Estemirova.

"The investigation has not been suspended. It is continuing," the SK press service told Itar-Tass in response to the request to comment on the statement by the Memorial rights center alleging that the case is not being investigated.

Natalia Estemirova was abducted near her house in Grozny on July 15, 2009. He body was found on the same day 100 meters from the Kavkaz highway near the village of Gazi-Yurt, Ingushetia. Th investigators believe the crime was committed in connection with Estemirova's professional activity and with the view of unsettling the situation in Ingushetia and Chechnya.
