11 hospitalized after Mi-8 crash in Tomsk region

Medics say four people are in serious condition

MOSCOW, July 14 (Itar-Tass) - Eleven people were hospitalized after a Mi-8 helicopter crash in Russia’s Siberian Tomsk region, a spokesman for the Russian emergencies ministry told Itar-Tass on Sunday.

The air incident occurred at about 10:00 a.m. Moscow time on Sunday at the landing pad Igol, Rosaviatsiya spokesman Sergei Izvolsky told Itar-Tass. The Mi-8 helicopter of the air company Gazpromavia fell on its side in the takeoff. There were 17 people - fourteen passengers and three crewmen - onboard the helicopter.

“Fifteen people were hurt during the crash landing. There were taken to a hospital in the town of Tara, Omsk region. After medical examination, eleven were hospitalized, four others were released,” the spokesman said.

Medics say four people are in serious condition.
