The opposition activist intends to appeal to a court to declare the commission's actions in restricting the deadlines unlawful

MOSCOW, July 10 (Itar-Tass) - Left Front leader Sergei Udaltsov through his attorneys will appeal to a court against the actions of the Moscow city election commission, which received his documents only in the second attempt.

His attorney Nikolai Polozov told Itar-Tass that Udaltsov had informed him he intended to appeal against the election commission, which, according to him, intentionally had misled him to prevent his electioneering campaign.

The opposition activist intends to appeal to a court to declare the commission's actions unlawful and extend the deadline for him to submit signatures to be registered as a candidate for the Moscow mayoral elections.

The complaint will be brought to the court soon, after all the details are discussed, the lawyer said.

The Moscow city election commission on Tuesday received the documents to nominate Udaltsov as a candidate for the mayoral elections, leaving only 24 hours for the opposition activist to collect signatures and complete all the procedures to be registered as a candidate. Earlier, the commission refused to take the documents, insisting on Udaltsov's personal presence, but he is under home arrest and is not allowed leaving.

"When receiving the documents yesterday, the commission did not explain why they reversed their decision. So, I do not know why yesterday they took the documents, but the first time they refused," Polozov added.
