Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin did not rule out that confrontation could go beyond diplomatic

MOSCOW, June 28 (Itar-Tass) - Russia should be ready for diversions against its oil and gas facilities in the Arctic, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said on Friday.

“Active exploration of the Arctic shelf inevitably results in the conflict of interest between countries that lay claims to its resources,” he told the conference “Be strong: guarantees of national security for Russia.”

Rogozin did not rule out that confrontation could go beyond diplomatic.

“It is necessary to realize that executors of such diversions could be evidently not linked with customers,” he said.

“Modern monitoring means capable of effectively work in air and at sea. Until now we do not obtain such means in full,” Rogozin said.

The revival of the Northern Sea Route does not add to tranquility in the Arctic, he said recalling the NATO has been discussing its plans for strengthening naval groups in the Arctic region under pretence of ensuring security of commercial shipping.
