Police detains about 20 people in downtown Moscow for violation of law

A law enforcement source said most detainees had been carried to police stations from the Red Square where the opposition tried to organise an unauthorised protest action

MOSCOW, April 20 (Itar-Tass) - Police detained about 20 people in downtown Moscow for violations of law during mass events, the press service of the Russian Interior Ministry’s Main Directorate told Itar-Tass on Saturday.

“About 20 people were detained for different violations when they took part in mass events. Protocols on administrative penalty were drawn up,” the press service said.

A law enforcement source said most detainees had been carried to police stations from the Red Square where the opposition tried to organise an unauthorised protest action.
