VLADIVOSTOK, January 5 (Itar-Tass) —— A powerful earthquake near the Alaskan shore has triggered a 13-centimeter-high tsunami, the Sakhalin tsunami warning centre said on Saturday referring to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre located in Hawaii.

The mini-tsunami poses no threat to Russia's Pacific coast.

Meanwhile, the Sakhalin tsunami centre is monitoring the situation after the quake.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the 7.7-magnitude earthquake rocked Alaska at 23.58 local time on January 4 (08:58 GMT, January 5). Its epicenter was located 102 kilometers west off the city of Craig and the seismic focus lay at a depth of 9.6 kilometers below the seabed.
