MOSCOW, December 16 (Itar-Tass) — The Russian opposition’s Coordinating Council declared its major objective an overwhelming political reform of the country.

The Council’s meeting approved generally the statement, called On Objectives and Tasks of Coordinating Council. The document does not recognise as legal the elections to the State Duma of December 2011, the presidential election in March of 2012, or the authorities established following those. The Council aims to have them replaced “by means of a peaceful anti-criminal revolution.”

Thus, an “overwhelming political reform” was called “the Russian opposition’s major objective.”

The Coordinating Council will “try to use all accessible forms of support for the opposition’s candidates at various regional, local and municipal elections,” though the Council itself is not going to nominate its own candidates.

The Council’s Secretary Dmitry Nekrasov said the documents have 42 addendums already. They will be forwarded to the editorial group. “We may say that the document has passed the first reading,” the State Duma’s former Deputy Gennady Gudkov, who chaired the meeting, said.

Members of the Coordinating Council admitted that their supporters are tired of rallies. RPR-PARNAS’ co-chair Boris Nemtsov said among others that quite many people had not participated in it because the rally had not been approved by the authorities.

“I believe, that generally speaking the Limonov-style is bad,” he said. “We should make it so that the protest is massive.”

“We are witnessing certain boredom, as people have hoped for a quick result,” the Committee’s member Ilya Yashin said. “It is not a sprint, it is a marathon.”

“We should tune the people from a sprint to a marathon,” Sergei Udaltsov said supporting him.

Several members of the Committee spoke for another action, where it should be organised next spring already, so that it is approved, and so that at least 150-200 thousand participate in it. The Committee did not fix a date however.
