Cases against 70 persons accused of spreading fakes on Russian military directed to courts

Investigative bodies probed and moved to the court 79 out of 135 criminal cases, the Prosecutor-General's Office says

MOSCOW, January 8. /TASS/. Prosecutors directed criminal cases against 70 persons accused of spreading false information on the use of the Russian Armed Forces (Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) during the military operation in Ukraine, to courts in 2023, the press service of the Russian Prosecutor-General's Office told TASS.

"From January to November 2023 only, 135 crimes in violation of this article were registered. Investigative bodies probed and directed to the court 79 criminal cases against 70 persons," the Prosecutor-General's Office said

Article 207.3 aimed mainly at preventing the spread of anti-Russia propaganda, false information about the use of the Russian armed forces abroad, including during the special operation in Ukraine, were added to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation in March 2023, the press service noted.
