LDPR leader files paperwork for registration as Russian presidential candidate
Vladislav Davankov, member of the New People party, has also filed paperwork for registration as a presidential candidate
MOSCOW, January 1. /TASS/. Leonid Slutsky, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), has submitted paperwork for registration as a candidate in the March presidential vote to the Central Election Commission (CEC), CEC member Anton Lopatin said.
"An LDPR delegation visited [the CEC office] today to file [Slutsky’s] registration papers," he said while accepting registration documents from Sergey Malinkovich, presidential hopeful nominated by the political party Communists of Russia.
Vladislav Davankov, member of the New People party, has also filed paperwork for registration as a presidential candidate, a TASS correspondent reported.
The upper house Federation Council formally designated March 17, 2024 as the date of the presidential election. In turn, the Russian Central Election Commission decided that citizens would be able to cast their ballots during a three-day voting period on March 15-17, making this Russia’s first three-day presidential election.
