MOSCOW, December 17. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has slammed attempts at breaking interethnic accord in the country as a treachery.

"Attempt to break interethnic and inter-religious civic accord are a treachery and crime against Russia," he said at the 21st congress of Russia’s ruling United Russia party.

"It is the people who has always been and will be the only source of power," he stressed. "We will defend its sovereign right to decide about its future from any foreign interference."

"The Russian state will be sovereign and, hence, really people’s," he added.
