Russia hopes that US presidency ensures constructive dialogue during APEC summit
According to the embassy, the Russian delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk arrived in San Francisco
WASHINGTON, November 16. /TASS/. Russia hopes that the United States, as a host nation of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, will ensure a constructive and pragmatic dialogue during the event, the Russian Embassy in the US said on its Telegram channel on Thursday.
"We count on the US presidency to ensure a constructive and pragmatic dialogue within the framework of this economic forum," the embassy said.
"Our country considers this platform as the leading forum for discussion of key issues of economic interaction between Asia-Pacific countries, as well as creation of favorable conditions for the development of trade and investment ties in the region. Particularly, in line with the initiative of the President of the Russian Federation to develop the Greater Eurasian Partnership," Russian diplomats added.
According to the embassy, the Russian delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk arrived in San Francisco to participate in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit and Leaders’ Week.
The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) comprises 19 countries and 2 territories. These include 12 founding economies: Australia, Brunei, Indonesia, Canada, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, the United States, Thailand, the Philippines, South Korea, and Japan. Other members are China (joined in 1991), Mexico and Papua New Guinea (1993), Chile (1994), Russia, Vietnam and Peru (1998). Two Chinese territories, Hong Kong and Taiwan, joined APEC in 1991.
