Russia’s smartphone with functions fully replacing those of foreign ones, may appear in the country by the end of this year or at the beginning of 2024, deputy head of the Defense Ministry’s department, head of the ERA-IT project Nikolay Lishin told TASS.

"There are some smartphones exhibited by the innovation technopolis Era at the Army-2023 forum that are close to having all functions. I think that at the end of this year or the beginning of next [year] we will already get a fully-featured smartphone that will enable people to stop using a foreign-manufactured one," he said at the Army-2023 forum.

"I think that such a smartphone will be cheaper than Apple’s top models, of course, though it may be slightly more expensive than Samsung's basic models," Lishin added.

The Army-2023 International Military-Technical Forum is being held at the Patriot Congress and Exhibition Center, the Alabino training ground and the Kubinka airfield outside Moscow on August 14-20. About 1,500 leading Russian defense enterprises and 85 foreign companies and businesses from seven countries are participating in the forum’s expositions and business program.
